Medical imaging research is transforming how health conditions are detected, diagnosed and treated. But how much do we understand and have a say in the developments that are shaping the future of healthcare?

ART x SCIENCE brings together postgraduate students from King’s College London and the Royal College of Art to open up the conversation around cutting-edge medical imaging research. Driven by curiosity and collaboration, artists and scientists share their knowledge, experiences and ideas to create new exhibits that reimagine research.

ART x SCIENCE 2020

ART x SCIENCE 2021

To open up the world of cutting-edge medical imaging research, ART x SCIENCE brings together students from the School for Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Science at King’s College London and the Royal College of Art. This is an experiment into what can happen when professionals from two seemingly different worlds collaborate. How will their differences – their backgrounds, skills, and perspectives – and their similarities – the fact that both rely on inquiry and questioning – combine?

This project was led by:

Bella Spencer; Public Engagement Officer at the EPSRC CDT in Smart Medical Imaging.
Deanne Naula; Community Engagement Officer at the Centre for Medical Engineering.
Hannah Lambert; Community Engagement Manager at the Royal College of Art.
Thanks to the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Smart Medical Imaging, Welcome Centre for Medical Engineering and Royal College of Art for their support.
