Academia and Industry Building the Future where Research Meets Application
The new EPSRC DLA King’s Doctoral Prize Programme in Multiscale Medical Imaging brought together leaders from industry and academia for a pivotal networking event held at the London Institute for Healthcare Engineering.

Through a mix of bite-sized presentations and in-depth one-on-one conversations, the event sought to uncover new pathways toward collaborative, impactful and customised solutions addressing critical challenges in the dynamic field of medical imaging.
Professor Alistair Young, director of the new Multiscale Medical Imaging programme, opened the session with an overview of the training, highlighting its key research themes as well as partnership avenues. A series of academic bite-size talks followed, spanning topics from AI for Medical Image Analysis by Prof Andy King and Developing Theranostics from Isotopes to Clinic by Dr Graeme Stasiuk to Cardio-Oncology Opportunities at the Intersect of Cancer and Heart Disease by Dr Sohaib Nazir.

Industry representatives from Adaptix, Astral Systems, Johnson & Johnson, Life Molecular Imaging and Siemens Healthineers then took the stage to deliver their pitches which were followed by engaging PhD poster sessions. The day concluded with industry and academia speed dating, where ideas and new collaborations began to take shape.
