We held our first virtual Industry-Supervisor Event on 13 July, kicking off the new call for CDT projects for our 2021 Cohort – Cohort 8.
Following an introduction by CDT in Smart Medical Imaging Directors Professor Julia Schnabel and Professor Nick Long, industry partners watched presentations by the four CDT research theme leads about AI-Enabled Imaging, Smart Imaging Probes, Emerging Imaging and Affordable Imaging. The event closed with a Q&A session.
We had a fantastic turn-out with a total of 56 attendees, including representatives from AstraZeneca, Cosmonio, GE Healthcare, GlaxoSmithKline, MyPulses, NanoMab, NVIDIA, Perspectum Diagnostics, Philips Healthcare, Siemens Healthineers, Therapanacea, Mirada Medical and Xtronics Ltd.
One-to-one meetings between supervisors and industry partners will now take place any time over the next few months, with the CDT team’s support, as required.
Professor Julia Schnabel said: “Our close partnership with industry is essential to the success of the CDT. We were pleased to have so many of our valued industry partners join us at the event and are excited to see new, collaborative projects shaping up over the coming months.”
Professor Nick Long added: “We strongly encourage interdisciplinary and inter-College projects, as well as new collaborations between junior and senior academics, for cross-fertilisation of technical expertise, experience and clinical specialties.”
